Calling All Volunteers....We Need You !
Glenhope’s success
is due to the support of our dedicated staff and parents. Our
school prides itself on a tremendous volunteer network. Volunteering
is a great way to become involved with your child’s education,
to make friends and to use your talents.
Listed below are several
volunteer opportunities within the PTA. Please contact a PTA
Board member (phone numbers are located in the school directory)
or call the school if you have any questions or ideas concerning
volunteering.
Classroom Assistant
Assist teacher
with bulletin boards, filing, cutting, etc. Teachers rely heavily
upon their classroom volunteers.
Environmental/Beautification
Assist with
outdoor campus and beautification.
Field Day
Assist chairman
with organizing and staffing field day activities.
Gator Tales
Assist with typing for
Gator Tales Publication, “Rising Star”.
Grade Level Coordinator
Meet with the
Lead Teacher and coordinate room parents for your grade level.
Holiday Breakfast
Volunteers
needed to aid the chairman with obtaining food donations and
serving breakfast.
Holiday Workshop
Volunteers
needed to assist with craft supplies and organizing the Workshop.
Hospitality
Assist with
decorating, baking, or cooking for teacher appreciation luncheons
and other PTA sponsored events.
Ice Cream Social
Assist with the decorations and serve ice cream at PTA welcome
back to school event.
Library
Volunteers
are needed for library duties.
Room Parent
Some responsibilities
that the room parent may have include the following:
- Coordinate two class parties during the year: a holiday party
before Winter Break and a Valentine party.
- Coordinate a class booth at the Fall Festival.
- Coordinate an item to be donated to the Silent Auction by the
class.
- Arrange a parent to watch the classroom for about one hour
during the faculty Holiday Luncheon in December and Teacher Appreciation
Week.
- Organize a dessert for classroom teacher during Teacher Appreciation
Week.
- Other classroom events that may need organization.
Assistant Room Parent
Assists the
Room Parent in planning and coordinating classroom events.
School Staff Assistants
Volunteers needed to assist office or staff personnel during
busy times or to cover for lunch break.
Silent Auction
Help is needed
to secure donations from local retailers and merchants and organize
donations. Computer assistance is also needed.
Spirit Shop
Volunteers
needed to assist with Spirit Shop once a month.
Student Directory
Volunteers
are needed for ad sales, proofreading, telephoning and distribution.
The directory is distributed in early October.
Talent Show
Volunteers
are needed to help backstage and also help with refreshments.
Teacher Appreciation
Volunteers
are needed to coordinate Teacher Appreciation Week, monthly treats
for teachers and snacks for monthly staff meetings.
Tutoring
Tutoring for
students who need some extra assistance. Reading Recovery is
a program for K-2 students who need extra reading time. Spanish
tutoring is designed to aid students who need to become more
proficient in English. General tutors are also needed.
Web Site Coordinator
Design and
update PTA web pages to be linked to the Glenhope Elementary
School web site.
Winter Beach Party
Volunteers
are needed to help with the set up, decorating and organization
of games and food.
Yearbook
Assist with
the layout of the yearbook. |
