Education Foundation honors top GCISD graduates
For the ninth year, the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation
honored the top graduating seniors from the Class of 2008 at Colleyville
Heritage and Grapevine high schools, each of their favorite teachers,
and the district’s Teachers of the Year. The Grapevine-Colleyville
Education Foundation’s “Celebrating Our Stars”
Academic Recognition Banquet was held Thursday, June 5, at the Hilton
DFW Lakes in Grapevine.
The
Foundation’s 2008 Distinguished Friend recipient, John T.
Eubanks, was also recognized. Past recipients of the Distinguished
Friend Award include Roy Stewart in 2003, Balla Wright in 2004,
Shirley Cannon Holley in 2005, Dr. Jim Thompson in 2006, and Mark
Howe in 2007. Sponsors included Featured Platinum Star, Park Place
Motorcars Mid-Cities; Gold Stars, Chesapeake Energy, PSAV Presentation
Services and Star-Telegram; and Silver Stars – Hilton DFW

Executive Director, said, “The banquet is a GCISD community
celebration - a very positive occasion that recognizes distinguished
students and teachers. The Foundation is thrilled to have the opportunity
to recognize these outstanding students and teachers and truly appreciate
the sponsors and individuals who help make this annual event possible.”
The
evening commenced with a reception, followed by dinner, entertainment
by GHS student Tiffany Avery, congratulatory remarks by GCISD Superintendent
and Education Foundation Secretary Kay Waggoner, and the recognition
of the Distinguished Friend, Students and their Distinguished Teachers,
and the Teachers of the Year with a extra special presentation to
the District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year by Malcolm
Gage, Park Place Motorcars Mid-Cities.
