Happening this Week
Bridges Graduation tonight
Students from Bridges Learning Center
will recieve diplomas in a graduation ceremony tonight at 7
p.m. The ceremony will be held at Colleyville Community Center and
will recongize 48 spring graduates, as well as six summer graduates.
Former
Golden Knights team member to parachute onto field
Dana Bowman, retired member of the U.S. Army’s Special Forces
and the elite Golden Knights parachute team, will parachute onto
the football field at Heritage Middle School on May 30 during the
school's Price of Freedom celebration, 1:50-3:10 p.m. Bowman is
a double amputee and travels the country speaking to school children,
hospital patients and others about his message: "It's not the
Disability; It's the Ability." Read

Project Graduation planning continues
The next meeting of the Grapevine High School Project Graduation
Committee will be May 27 at 7 p.m. in the Colleyville Elementary
School Library, followed by a meeting on June 3. Information: Kay

3 - The fourth grade classes are learning about the free enterprise
system in their Junior Achievement Classes. "Enterprise Day"
will be held on June 3 during the day. The fourth grade will create
a simulated marketplace. Each child, being an entrepreneur, will
create handmade items to sell to others. The money that is collected
will be donated to GRACE.
Graduation
ceremonies set for Class of 2008
Class of 2008 Graduation for Grapevine High School and Colleyville
Heritage High School will be held on Saturday, June 7 at the Dallas
Convention Center. GHS will be at 10 a.m. and CHHS will be at 2
p.m.
District's
childcare open to community this summer for preschool enrichment
The ECDC is open to the community this summer and will host enrichment
camps for children 3-5 years old. Beginning June 7th and ending
August 1st, the summer enrichment camps will focus on developmentally
appropriate themes and be offered on a weekly basis from 8:00 am
to 12:00 pm.
Extended care will be available to parents for the remainder of
the day. There will not be enrichment camps provided during the
week of June 30 -July 4. Download

Driver's
Ed and Target classes set for summer
Summer classes for Driver's Education and TARGET Evening
Education program begin in June. Only one session, June 12-July
3, is scheduled for Driver's Education so students are encouraged
to sign up early if they are interested in taking the course during
the summer. Two sessions are planned for TARGET -June 9-20 and June
23-July 3. Additional information is available on the District's

Free
breakfast and lunch offered to students this summer
The
Summer Food Service Program at Timberline Elementary provides free
meals to all children age 18 and younger. These meals provide essential
nutrients for active growing kids. To participate in the free meal
program, all kids have to do is show up at a serving site. Breakfast
is offered from 8:15 a.m. – 9 a.m. and lunch is offered 11:30
a.m. – 1 p.m. The entire meal must be consumed at the serving
site; absolutely no “to go” breakfasts or lunches are

DI team earns top award in global competition
Colleyville Middle School's 8th grade Destination ImagiNation
team placed 1st in the middle school category at the Destination
Imagination Global Finals at the University of Tennessee May 21-24.

schools win in the Betty Lynn Buckley Awards
GCISD high schools won top awards in eight of sixteen categories
at the 2007-08 Betty
Lynn Buckley Awards. Grapevine High School won five awards,
including the award for Best Musical for Into the Woods,
while Colleyville Heritage High School won three awards for its
performance of Bye Bye Birdie. Awards included:

Buckley Awards celebrates excellence in musical theatre production
among participating Tarrant County high schools.

NetLife
Insurance Company Visits Bear Creek Elementary
On May
1, employees of NetLife Insurance visted Bear Creek and read books
and stories to the first graders. They also discussed safety practrices
in the home with students. Each student received a stuffed animal
and related booklets about home safety.
