Happening this Week
Bransford celebrates birthday tonight; tickets available
Bransford
Elementary will celebrate its 15th birthday on Monday, May 12, with
a special concert and birthday festivities. Platinum record pianist
Danny Wright will present a benefit concert for the Grapevine-Colleyville
Education Foundation Bransford Endowment Fund. The celebration also
includes a cake decorating contest, with winners determined by popular
vote. Voting begins at 6:30 p.m. and the concert follows at 7 p.m.
The event will also feature special guest perfomances by Miss Colleyville
Paige Jones and Miss Grapevine Julia Anderson. Mistress of Ceremonies
will be Rebecca Miller. The
celebration will be at The Colleyville Community Center. Tickets
are $10 per person or $30 per family. For tickets and information,

Taste
Test fundraiser for GHS Juniors
GHS junior class will host the annual
Taste Test on May 16 to raise money for senior year events. Volunteers
are needed to taste food and give their opinions. Eight testing
sessions will be held during the hours of 10:20 a.m.-3:50 p.m. and
each complete taste test lasts about 30 minutes. To volunteer, contact

Taste of Timberline
Timberline Elementary School students and families
are invited to attend A Taste of Timberline on Saturday, May 17,
11 a.m.- 3 p.m. The event is a multicultural celebration with food,
games, dancing and fun.

Project Graduation planning underway
The next meeting of the Grapevine High School Project Graduation
Committee will be May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Colleyville Elementary
School Library. Future meetings are scheduled May 20, May 27 and

Board meeting dates adjusted
A
date has been added to the Board calendar and the regular board
meeting date has been revised for May. Canvassing of votes will
be conducted on Monday, May 19, at 2 p.m. in the Board Room at the
GCISD Administration building. The administration of the oath of
office and the election of Board officers will held at the beginning
of the regular monthly meeting which has been changed to Wednesday,
May 28.
Graduation
ceremonies set for Class of 2008
Class of 2008 Graduation for Grapevine High School and Colleyville
Heritage High School will be held on Saturday, June 7 at the Dallas
Convention Center. GHS will be at 10 a.m. and CHHS will be at 2
p.m. Bridges Accelerated Learning Center Graduation Celebration
will be Tuesday, May 27, 7 p.m., at the Colleyville Community Center.
Bear
Creek Elementary Career Day
Students at Bear Creek Elementary K-5 will hear about various careers
as part of Career Day on Friday, May 23rd. About 70 parents and
community volunteers will speak to students throughout the day.
Nana Puddin' Productions will also be on our campus that day with
a program presented by

Project Graduation student/parent contracts due
Contracts for students who plan to attend Project Graduation are
due in the school office on Friday, May 23. Both parent/guardian
and the student must sign the contract. Additional contracts are
available in the office and online at www.gcisd-chhs.org/projectGraduation.

Project Graduation fundraisers planned
GHS Project Graduation 2008 has teamed up with Smoothie King of
Southlake to offer smoothies for sale on Monday afternoons after
school near the student parking lot. Three types of smoothies will
be offered and will be sold for $3 each. A portion of the proceeds
goes to Project Graduation to fund the senior party. Contact: Cynthia

CHHS
PTSA meeting set
The next meeting of the CHHS PTSA will be on Monday, May 19, 6 p.m.
in the CHHS Lecture Hall and will include recognition of CHHS Scholarship
recipients, winners of the Reflections Contest and other PTSA award
winners.
District's
childcare open to community this summer for preschool enrichment
The ECDC is open to the community this summer and will host enrichment
camps for children 3-5 years old. Beginning June 7th and ending
August 1st, the summer enrichment camps will focus on developmentally
appropriate themes and be offered on a weekly basis from 8:00 am
to 12:00 pm.
Extended care will be available to parents for the remainder of
the day. There will not be enrichment camps provided during the
week of June 30 -July 4. Download

Swim
Center to close for renovations
The GCISD Swim Center will be closed for renovation from
Saturday, May 17 through early August.
Fall class information and reopening updates will be posted on
the Swim Center website.
Driver's
Ed and Target classes set for summer
Summer classes for Driver's Education and TARGET Evening
Education program begin in June. Only one session, June 12-July
3, is scheduled for Driver's Education so students are encouraged
to sign up early if they are interested in taking the course during
the summer. Two sessions are planned for TARGET -June 9-20 and June
23-July 3. Additional information is available on the District's

Free
breakfast and lunch offered to students this summer
The
Summer Food Service Program at Timberline Elementary provides free
meals to all children age 18 and younger. These meals provide essential
nutrients for active growing kids. To participate in the free meal
program, all kids have to do is show up at a serving site. Breakfast
is offered from 8:15 a.m. – 9 a.m. and lunch is offered 11:30
a.m. – 1 p.m. The entire meal must be consumed at the serving
site; absolutely no “to go” breakfasts or lunches are

Transportation
Services seeks feedback from parents
Parents are asked to participate in Transportation Services
annual survey to provide feedback on their student's bus riding
experiences. Information from the survey will be used in planning
for next year. The survey will be available on the District's website
until May 30. Take
the survey now.
GCISD
employees recognized at annual reception
With "Honoring Education's Treasures" as the theme, the
GCISD employee recognition reception was held on May 8 as a celebration
of the year's top teachers, paraprofessionals and auxiliary employees,
school nurse of year, retirees and service award winners. Read

Voters
elect two new trustees to Board
GCISD voters elected Leon Leal to Place 6 and Jorge Rodriguez
to Place 7. Incumbent Jesse Rodriguez was unchallenged for Place
5. Canvassing of votes will be conducted on Monday, May 19, at 2
p.m. in the Board Room at the GCISD Administration building. The

CHHS
PTSA scholarships awarded
The CHHS PTSA has awarded four $500 Senior Scholarships, recognizing
students who have shown superior achievement in citizenship, leadership
and academics. Shelby Lee, Adriana Taylor, Sterling Ward and Stephanie
Williams will recieve their scholarship certificates at the May
19 meeting of the PTSA.

Dance Team members set for next school year
Members of the Grapevine High School Mustang Belles and the Colleyville
Heritage High School Pantherette junior varsity dance teams have
been named for the 2008-09 school year.
