National Merit semifinalists advance to finalist standing
All fourteen
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD high school National Merit semifinalists
have advanced to finalists in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship
Program. Of GCISD’s 14 Finalists, five attend Colleyville
Heritage High School and nine attend Grapevine High School. Beginning
in March and continuing to mid-June, National Merit Scholarship
Corporation (NMSC) will notify approximately 8,200 finalists at
that they have been selected to receive a Merit Scholarship®
award.
The National
Merit Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic
ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. All
winners of Merit Scholarship® awards will be chosen from the
finalist group, based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
A variety of information is available for NMSC selectors to evaluate–the
finalist's academic record, information about the school's curricula
and grading system, two sets of test scores, school official's written
recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership
and the finalist's own essay.
Finalists at
Colleyville Heritage High School are: Melissa Butler of Colleyville,
Min Young Chung of Colleyville, Lauren Riddle of Colleyville, Adrianna
Tam of Colleyville and Daniel Virtheim of Euless.
Finalists
at Grapevine High School are: Nicholas Borgers of Colleyville, Milena
Fertitta of Colleyville, Cole Ford of Colleyville, Sarah Mannen
of Grapevine, Katherine Martin of Grapevine, Robert Musgrave of
Colleyville, Nicole Paynter of Grapevine, Jeremy Smith of Grapevine
and Roger Su of Grapevine.
