Grapevine-Colleyville
Education Foundation announces Distinguished Friend Award Recipient
The
Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation has selected Mark Howe
as the 2007 Distinguished Friend Award recipient. The Distinguished
Friend Award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated
a commitment to the mission and vision of the Foundation. Howe will
be recognized at the Foundation’s “Celebrating Our Stars”
Academic Recognition Banquet, May 24 at the Hilton DFW Lakes.
Mark Howe has
worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of education in GCISD.
Howe has served as a director for the Education Foundation for over
six years, two and one-half as the Foundation’s President.
Howe is a major contributor to all of the Foundation’s events
and initiatives. He and his wife Carol have given a $25,000 endowment
to the foundation in honor of Howe’s mother, a retired teacher,
Inez Cannon Howe. Their three children are graduates of GCISD schools.
In addition to his service on the Foundation, he has served on numerous
GCISD advisory committees.
“The
Education Foundation has a great mission,” Howe said. “To
get the opportunity to work with so many dedicated and fine people
who make up the Board of Directors, the Staff, the Volunteers, and
the Educators is a great honor. It is truly special to be endorsed
with this honor by them.”
Education Foundation
Executive Director Janice Kane said, “Mark is a humble leader
and most interested in helping the students and educators in GCISD.
He has supported the Foundation both with his time, talents and
financial resources. His steady leadership has been instrumental
in the tremendous growth and success of the Foundation. Mark is
a true friend of GCISD and the Education Foundation and a most deserving
recipient of the Distinguished Friend Award.”
