Happening This Week
• 5th Annual GCISD Video Festival
Finalists have been selected for the 5th Annual GCISD Video Festival.
Finalist entries will be screened from 4-10 p.m. April 10, and Video
Festival awards will be at 6:30 p.m. on April 26. Both events will
be at the Metro Cinema in Colleyville and are free to the public.

GCISD Bus Safety Road-eo
The 20th annual GCISD School Bus Safety Road-eo will be April 11
outside the GCISD Transportation Department offices. The purpose
of the event is to reinforce the special knowledge and skills required
to drive a school bus in a fun and interesting manner. Drivers will
compete in 10 different driving events and two written tests. The
top three will receive plaques; the top five will advance to the
regional competition on May 5 in Plano. Information: 817-251-5503.

CHHS ‘Shattered Dreams’ program
Students at Colleyville Heritage High School will participate in
a two-day program, “Shattered Dreams,” designed to illustrate
the dangerous consequences of drinking and driving. The program
will include a mock drinking and driving collision on Thursday followed

GHS Project Graduation golf tournament
Students, parents and supporters of Grapevine High School are invited
to participate in a golf tournament fund-raiser benefiting the 2006
Project Graduation celebration. The tournament begins at noon April
14 at Grapevine Golf Club. Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team
and all proceeds benefit Project Graduation. The after-graduation
celebration will be 11 p.m.-5 a.m. May 26 at Main Event in Grapevine.

Calendar Items
• Foundation gearing up for annual golf tournament
The 6th annual Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation Golf Tournament
will be April 15-16 at Timarron Country Club in Southlake. Pre-tournament
appreciation party and auction is 5 p.m. April 15. Tournament welcome
and shotgun start is 12:30 p.m. April 16. Funds raised from this
event will support collaborative efforts of GCISD and the Education
Foundation for innovative education efforts. Information: Executive

GHS, CHHS varsity gymnastics tryouts
Tryouts for the men’s and women’s varsity gymnastics
teams at Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high schools will be
2-4 p.m. April 21 at Sunbelt Gymnastics in Colleyville. Interested
young men and women must come dressed to participate and currently
be at least a competitive level 5. A parent information meeting
will be 7 p.m. April 17 in CHHS room B137. All other students interested
in participating in GCISD high school gymnastics can sign up for
the junior varsity team – tryouts are not required for the

• Kindergarten registration set for May
Kindergarten Roundup, a spring registration for incoming kindergarteners,
will be held in May at the campus the student will attend. Children
who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible to attend
kindergarten, which is held from 8 a.m.-2:15 p.m. at each of the
11 elementary schools in GCISD. Kindergarten Roundup will be held
at all elementary schools on May 1, with Silver Lake Elementary
offering an additional time on May 2. Specific times, as well as
information needed for registration, are available on the District’s

Senior scholarships available from Bransford Elementary
Any GCISD graduating seniors who attended Bransford Elementary for
at least one full academic year are eligible for one of two scholarships
sponsored by the Bransford PTA. The scholarships will recognize
students with superior achievement in citizenship, leadership and
academics. Applications are available from the high school counselors
and must be returned by 4 p.m. April 27. Information: 817-305-4930.

Registration open for GCISD Summer Enrichment
GCISD’s Summer Enrichment program begins June 4 for kids in
kindergarten through eighth grade. The program, “Explore and
Discover,” offers a variety of classes including fine arts,
cooking, cultural studies, math and science, social skills, sports/recreation
and technology. There are both morning and afternoon classes available.
