The Summer Food Service Program at Timberline Elementary provides free meals to all children age 18 and younger. These meals provide essential nutrients for active growing kids. To participate in the free meal program, all kids have to do is show up at a serving site. Breakfast is offered from 8:15 a.m. - 9 a.m. and lunch is offered 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The entire meal must be consumed at the serving site; absolutely no "to go" breakfasts or lunches are available.
The GCISD language arts department requires students grades K-12 to read at least two books during the summer months. Your child may select books from the lists provided on the GCISD website or books of his or her own choosing to read. Summer reading is the most important activity your child can do to enhance academic achievement. Reading for pleasure strengthens students' understanding of concepts across curriculum areas. Reading builds vocabulary, comprehension and reading rate.
