Evan Defilippis and James Hamraie, 2008 Colleyville Heritage High School graduates, earned first place and the title of national champions in Policy Debate at the National Forensic League National Speech and Debate Tournament June 15-20 in Las Vegas. Competing against 203 other teams from across the nation, the CHHS graduates defeated a team from New Trier Township High School in Illinois on an 11-4 decision.
Students scheduled for senior pictures in July at Colleyville Middle School will need to take an alternate route to get to CMS due to the closure of Bogart Street for construction. To access Colleyville Middle School, drivers may enter Colleyville Elementary from Pleasant Run Road and follow the fire road that extends along the south side of CES to the CMS building. The fire gates will be open for the purpose of accessing CMS. The fire road from State Hwy. 26 that runs behind the former Colleyville Elementary School building, now the Professional Education Development Center, will not be open for access to Colleyville Middle.
The District's Administrative offices are observing summer hours through August 8. During this time, offices will be open Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. and closed on Fridays. District offices will be closed the week of June 30.
The Summer Food Service Program at Timberline Elementary provides free meals through July 18 to all children age 18 and younger. To participate in the free meal program, all kids have to do is show up at a serving site. Breakfast is offered from 8:15 a.m. - 9 a.m. and lunch is offered 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The entire meal must be consumed at the serving site; absolutely no "to go" breakfasts or lunches are available.
The GCISD language arts department requires students grades K-12 to read at least two books during the summer months. Your child may select books from the lists provided on the GCISD website or books of his or her own choosing to read.
The Early Childhood Development Center is open to the community this summer and will host enrichment camps for children 3-5 years old. Beginning June 7th and ending August 1st, the summer enrichment camps will focus on developmentally appropriate themes and be offered on a weekly basis from 8 a.m.- 12 p.m. Extended care will be available to parents for the remainder of the day. Enrichment camps will not be provided during the week of June 30 -July 4.
The Panther Golf Team Invitational Fundraising Tournament is set for September 8 at Sky Creek Ranch in Keller. Registration deadline for teams or individual players is September 4; sponsor deadline is August 25. Volunteers are also needed for the event.
