General:

  • Establish your own personal e-mail account if you do not have one already
  • Register with the College Board at www.collegeboard.org
  • Record/update your list of abilities, personal qualities and accomplishments for your resume 
    • name of group or organization
    • a description of your activities
    • how many hours a week/month/year you are involved
    • dates when you were active in the organization
    • any offices you have held
    • any awards you have received

Testing:

  • Decide which entrance exam is best for you and focus on improving scores for your chosen test.
    • Worksheet available in the Go Center
      • Comparing the ACT and SAT
  • Consider options for assistance with the college entrance exams - ACT/SAT
  • Sign up for free PSAT Testing through GCISD - testing is available to 9th - 11th grade in early October

Begin Researching Colleges:

  • If you have older siblings who are going on college visits, consider joining them. (note:  only Juniors and Seniors get excused college visit absences)
  • Attend the GCISD College Fair every year
  • Take virtual tours of colleges
  • Begin to determine which types of schools are a good fit for you and your family
  • Consider Pre-College Summer Programs at the schools you are interested in

Get Involved:

  • Get involved in your school and community
  • Write down your extracurricular activities and volunteer activities, include the following information:
